Getting to Hotel Acquamarina
The Island of Elba is served by a year-round ferry service from Piombino Marittima; the crossing takes just one hour. There are fewer sailings in winter, but from April to October, 4 shipping companies, Moby Lines, Toremar, Corsica Ferries and Blu Navy, run a packed schedule of services. Ferries are able to take large numbers of cars, coaches and passengers, but there is also a high-speed hydrofoil passenger service.
There are also crossings to Cavo and Rio Marina, but the main route, and the most convenient, is to Portoferraio, where there are many more arrivals and departures. We recommend the Piombino-Portoferraio service when travelling to Hotel Acquamarina.
Visitors can travel to Piombino Marittima harbour by train after changing at the junction at Campiglia, or by car or bus.
Piombino Marittima has excellent road links to north and south via the SS Aurelia highway; there is a clearly marked exit for Piombino and crossings to the Island of Elba.
There are also direct bus links to various cities: Florence – Piombino, which takes just 2 and a half hours (fsbusitalia.it); Milan – Piombino, which takes 6 hours with various stops (Maremmatour), and Grosseto – Piombino (Maremmatour).
The airport at La Pila, about 20 kilometres from our Hotel, connects the island of Elba to various cities during the summer. There are flights to Milan Linate, Pisa, Florence, Bern, Munich, Berlin and Vienna.
