Elba is unique, and visitors can enjoy lush natural surroundings with lovely inlets and beaches, combined with a wealth of historic sites dating from Roman and Medieval times.
Our Hotel enjoys an excellent location on the northern side of the island above the splendid Padulella Bay, about a kilometre from the old town of Portoferraio, Elba's capital and main port of arrival.
Portoferraio is the Island's largest town. Rich in history and very attractive, it was shaped by two great figures from the past, Cosimo de Medici e Napoleon Bonaparte.
Hotel Acquamarina therefore enjoys an enviable position, just a few minutes from the town centre yet immersed in quiet, green surroundings a short stroll from the famous white beaches, in one of Elba's loveliest corners.
It is a pleasant stroll of just a few minutes along a path of about 200 metres leading through greenery to the splendid Padulella Beach, famous for its crystal-clear waters with colours ranging from blue to green. The transparency of the sea reveals the whiteness of the pebbles on the shoreline.
The beaches of white sand just a very few minutes' walk away, including Padulella, Capo Bianco and Ghiaie, are all inside the Marine Nature Reserve, which also includes Scoglietto, the small island with a lighthouse off Portoferraio. This stretch of sea is therefore particularly rich in fish and marine life, wonderful for snorkelling and underwater photography.
